on “Domestic Violence considering Societal Changes and Mechanisms for reducing It” Workshop

Under the auspices of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision and in the presence of the Director of the University of Mosul Libraries, Assistant. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jassim Mohammed, the Woman’s Affairs Committee in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division at the Central Library, and in partnership with the Woman’s Affairs Unit, the Sustainable Development Unit, and the Department of Studies and Planning at the University Presidency. a workshop organized today, on April 8, 2026. entitled “Domestic Violence in Light of Societal Changes and Mechanisms for reducing It,” at the Central Library building of the University of Mosul. it was addressed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Baseman Faris Mohammed, and conducted by Asst. Lecturer Halla Abdul Monem Mohammed, and presented by Ms. Rawaa Asim Nori., the workshop covered the phenomenon of violence against woman, identifying it as a negative phenomenon that threatens the security and integrity of both the family and society. Violence against woman is a manifestation of
unequal relationships between man and woman, creating distorted forms of social interaction and disruptive behavioral patterns within and outside the family entity. There are various forms of violence—including physical, verbal, psychological, professional, and administrative abuse—as well as societal violence, which is practiced by the community itself and based on the preference for male over female. Underlying other causes and their potential future repercussions. Thus, the workshop successfully attained several goals of Sustainable Development: the third goal : (Good Health and Well-being), fourth goal : (Good Education), and fifth goal(Gender Equality).
