Mosul Studies Center’s Second Cultural Season
In line with the recommendations of the University of Mosul to spread awareness of the Iraqi cultural and civilizational heritage among the members of society, and under the auspices of Rector Al-Ahmady, the Mosul Studies Center conducted a second cultural season entitled (Notes on Mosul City Appellations) supervised by the Center’s Director, Prof. Dr. Maisun Alabaiaji, delivered by the Professor of Islamic History and Civilization, Prof. Dr. Jazil Aljomard, and moderated by the Professor of Oriental Studies, Prof. Dr. Naser Almalla Jasem. Dr. Jazil highlighted the books written on Mosul history, that show the importance of the City throughout history and the historical stages it went through, mentioning and discussing its appellations from his new point of view. Many scholars and many academics and staff members from the University of Mosul attended the season, participated in the discussions and got answers for their inquiries. On his part, Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, Secretary-General of the University Libraries, commended the importance of the season for shedding light on the City of Mosul culturally and historically to educate the community about the importance of this great city throughout history, appreciating the Mosul Studies Center for inviting him to attend the season.
