Organizing Course on Restoration and Conservation of Rare Books, Manuscripts, and Other Documents

In conformity with Rector Alibrahimi’s directives regarding holding courses and workshops to raise scientific awareness amongst its members, and under the supervision and presence of the Director General of the University of Mosul Libraries Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed
Jasim, and in the presence of the Director of the Unesco-adopted Project of the Restoration of University of Mosul Library Mr. Human Talal, the Division of Continuing Education at the Central Library organized a course themed “Restoration and Conservation of Rare Books, Manuscripts, and Other Documents” on 6-17 April, 2025.
The course was delivered by the UNESCO consultant for the restoration and preservation of books and manuscripts Mr. Laith Ali together with Mr. Mohamed Jaafar to prepare competent trainers capable of training Central Library staff members on restoration and maintenance techniques.
Note that a workshop was held in conjunction with this course to address the types of manuscripts, how to handle them, and methods of maintaining, preserving, and restoring them to contribute to the preservation of the documentary and intellectual heritage of the
University of Mosul.
