Under the auspices of the President of the University of Mosul Prof. Dr. Wahid Alibrahimi, and under the supervision and presence of the Director General of University of Mosul Libraries Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jasim, the Continuing Education Division of the Central
Library, organized a workshop themed “Violent Extremism in Digital World and How to Confront Online Recruitment” at the Ibn Khaldun Library on Thursday, April 22, 2025.
The workshop was delivered by Prof. Dr. Walid Salem Mohamed, College of Political Sciences, addressing how violent extremism has increasingly infiltrated the digital space, exploiting online platforms as effective tools for recruitment, indoctrination, and mobilization. The privacy, global reach, and ease of access provided by the internet have enabled extremist groups to target vulnerable individuals, exploiting personal grievances, ideological orientations, and social isolation.
