Towards Digital Transformation: The Central Library Joins the Unified Arab Catalog

In accordance with the University of Mosul presidency’s continuing efforts in digital transformation and modernization of the information research environment and within the framework of the Central Library Restoration Project implemented by UNESCO, the Central Library at the University of Mosul achieved a qualitative achievement by obtaining membership in the Unified Arab Catalog until 2030.
A meeting was held that included the Secretary General of the University of Mosul Libraries, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jasim with the management of the Unified Arab Catalog, in the presence of a representative of UNESCO and the officials of the divisions of the Central Library. The meeting included a detailed presentation on the services of the Unified Arab Catalog and the possibilities of integration with the automated cataloging system (KOHA) in university libraries.
This membership is an important step in developing library work and easing collaborative cataloging and exchange of bibliographic data at the Arab level, which directly contributes to raising the quality of services which is provided to students and researchers.
Through this achievement, the Central Library continues its commitment to adopting the best technical practices in the field of knowledge management and building an integrated university library that meets the needs of the digital age and supports the academic and research environment at the University of Mosul.
