Workshop at the Central Library on the importance of learning English for librarians

Under the auspices of the President of the Mosul University, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and within the activities of the Continuing Education Division of the Central Library, the Central Library at the University of Mosul organized a workshop tagged”Why is English necessary for librarians?”, this morning at the Central Library, in the presence of a number of sub-affiliated library officials, division and unit officials inside the Central Library, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Jassim Muhammad, Secretary General of the of Mosul University Libraries.The workshop was conducted by Ms. Saba Maad Al-Jabri, Head of the Continuing Education Division.
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of English language efficiency for library sector workers illustrating its role in promoting librarians’ efficiency in dealing with the global resources, and keeping pace with the developments in the field of library and information science. The workshop also covered the most important basic English
language skills that the librarian needs, such as understanding international indexing rules, dealing with electronic databases, academic correspondence, and receiving the foreign researchers

The workshop achieves the eighth goal: decent work and economic growth from the Sustainable Development Goals.
