Central Library

The Honorable President of the Mosul University, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi ,accompanied by His Excellency the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Niccolò Fontana, visited the central library at the university, where he was briefed on its current situation and the reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts achieved there after the challenges and hard conditions that passed during the past years.
The President of the University expressed his gratitude and thanks to His Excellency the Ambassador for the continuous Italian support, especially in the Central Library Reconstruction Project, underscoring this contribution which reflects the depth and the strength of the cultural and scientific partnership between Iraq and Italy and Italy’s prominent role in preserving the heritage and knowledge. Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Jassim Mohammed, Director of the University Libraries, provided a acomprehensive overview of the most important services offered to the students and users and the stages of development of the library restoration project which is implemented by UNESCO. Among those in attendance were Professor Dr. Abdul Raheem Ibrahim Jassim, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, and Mr. Humam Talal, Director of the Library Restoration Project at UNESCO.
At the end of the visit. The ambassador presented a copy of the book “Treasures of Iraq” to the President of the University as a symbolic expression of his country’s appreciation for the scientific and cultural efforts made by the University of Mosul, reaffirming the commitment to the importance of continuing cooperation in the fields of heritage, education and reconstruction
