Under the auspices of the President of the University of Mosul , the Honorable Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, , and under the supervision of the Director of the University of Mosul Libraries, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Jassim Mohammed, and in implementation of the Third National Plan for Women and Peace, the Women’s Affairs Division and the Continuing Education Division in the Central Library, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit and the Studies and Planning Department in the Presidency of the University of Mosul, organize a workshop entitled: ((The Role of Woman in Confronting the Effects of Climate Change and Promoting Environmental Sustainability)) On Tuesday 11/25/2025, it was delivered by assistant lecturer Laila Adel Saber and coordinated by Rawaa Asem Nouri and presented by Saba Maad Ahmed. The workshop covered the role of woman, as she isn’t only among the groups most affected by climate change, but she also plays an active and pivotal element in confronting it, and is able to bring about a real transformation towards a fairer and more sustainable environment.

The local and international experiences have confirmed that empowering women in the environmental field is not limited to achieving the social equity, but contributes directly to enhancing the and efficiency of the mitigation and adaptation strategies to the effects of climate change.

Integrating women into environmental policy formulation and providing education, training and financing opportunities consider a necessary response ,but indeed a key pillar to achieve the goals of the sustainable development The women’s future role is essential in protecting the earth environment ,preserving its resources , and life – sustaining on this planet .Thus, the workshop comes out with the following goals :( the Fourth Goal ,Quality Education), ( Fifth Goal ,Gender Equality), (Thirteenth Goal ,Climate Action), and (Seventeenth Goal, Partnerships) of the development goals.
