In line with the efforts of the Presidency of the University of Mosul to enhance environmental awareness, consolidating the culture of afforestation, and preserving green spaces, and the Directorate of the Central Library organized an activity to plant a number of trees in the vicinity of the library on the occasion of National Afforestation Day.

The activity is coordinated with the Diwan Affairs Department ,Agricultural Division with the purpose of increasing green spaces, improving the university environment, enhancing interest in vegetation cover, and making the campus a more sustainable and beautiful environment.

This activity embodies the Central Library’s interest in supporting environmental and community initiatives, and establishing positive behaviors that contribute to protecting the environment and improving the quality of life on campus.

The activity attained the following sustainable development goals :

Eleventh goal: Sustainable cities and communities– by promoting green spaces and improving the surrounding environment ,thirteenth goal: Climate action – by supporting afforestation and practices that contribute to reducing the effects of climate change.and the fifteenth goal Life on land– by increasing vegetation and preserving biodiversity and ecosystems.
