As part of the Mosul Studies Center administration’s efforts to follow up on academic activities related to the city of Mosul, the Director of the Mosul Studies Center, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Nizar al-Dabbagh, attended part of the discussion of the master’s thesis entitled: (Urban Expansion of the Bab al-Tub neighborhood during the Ottoman era – an architectural planning study) for the student (Safa Majid Muhammad) from the Department of Archaeology, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in Dr. Bahnam Abu al-Souf Hall. The thesis addressed the geographical importance of the Bab al-Tub neighborhood, its historical depth, and its borders, which extended beyond the walls of the old city of Mosul. The discussion committee consisted of the following professors:
Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Saleh Saeed, University of Mosul / College of Arts / Department of History, Chairman
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hamza Ismail, Cairo University / College of Archaeology / Department of Islamic Archaeology, Member
Prof. Dr. Farhan Mahmoud Elias, University of Mosul / / College of Archaeology / Department of Archaeology, Member
Prof. Dr. Akram Mohammed Yahya, University of Mosul, College of Archaeology, Department of Archaeology, Member and Supervisor.
The presence of the Mosul Studies Center administration comes as an effort to achieve academic communication between the two sides and to follow up on theses and dissertations discussed on the city of Mosul at the College of Archaeology, which constitute part of the center’s specialization.
