On the sidelines of the 26th Baghdad International Book Fair, a scientific dialogue seminar was held entitled “Pioneers in the Science of History: Examples of the Creativity of the Iraqi Historical School during the Twentieth Century.” The seminar was organized by Bayt Al-Hikma and featured lectures by Dr. Wafaa Adnan Al-Zubaidi, Dr. Wijdan Abdul Karim, Dr. Fayhaa Mawloud, and Dr. In’am Hussein Ahmed, who reviewed the research papers of female historians from the 1950s and 1960s, presented a presentation by Professor Amer Abdullah Al-Jumaili, a lecturer at the Mosul Studies Center, on the life of Iraqi historian Dr. Nabiha Abboud, a Christian from Mosul of Mardinian origin. Abboud was born in Mosul in 1879, where she completed her primary education, secondary school in Baghdad, and university studies in Beirut. She earned her master’s degree in 1925 from Boston University in the United States. She is considered one of the first female writers, historians, and investigators of Arabic manuscripts, papyri, and the history of Arabic calligraphy. She died in America in 1981 and is considered the oldest Iraqi historian of the twentieth century.
