Director of Mosul Studies Center Attends Lecture on Iraqi Scientific Research

Based on the directives of the University of Mosul Presidency, represented by Professor Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Nizar Al-Dabbagh, Director of the Mosul Studies Center, and Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Hazim Al-Ghadanfari, Head of the Department of Historical and Social Studies, attended the scientific lecture entitled: “Iraqi Scientific Research between Ambition and Global Ranking: Tools and Challenges.” The lecture was hosted by the University of Mosul, represented by Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University. The lecture was delivered by Professor Dr. Haider Abdul-Dahd, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the University of Mosul Theater. The lecture was attended by Professor Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayat, Chairman of the Parliamentary Education Committee, members of the University Council, a number of university presidents, the President of the University Academics Syndicate, heads of academic departments, directors of administrative departments at the university, and directors of research centers. The lecture began with a welcoming speech by the President of the University of Mosul, to the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Scientific Affairs and the attendees, praising him for responding to his invitation. To deliver a lecture at this venue.
This was followed by a lecture by Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahid, in which he noted the efforts and dedication of the University President and his invitation to deliver this lecture. The lecture focused on several points, including:
– The Ministry’s intention to adopt universities’ inclusion in international scientific rankings in its evaluations.
– Calling on universities and academic institutions to adopt an approach to automation and governance in scientific and administrative transactions for academic advancement and progress.
– Presenting and presenting statistical data from the most important global research platforms, such as Scopus, Shanghai, Clarivate, and Web Science, and indicating the number of research papers published therein at the level of Iraqi universities in general and the University of Mosul in particular.
– Emphasizing the establishment of local, Arab, and international partnerships between universities in scientific research.
– Mechanisms for increasing the percentage of citations for research.
