1. Title
University of Mosul Non-Discrimination Policy Against Women
2. Purpose / Objective
The University of Mosul seeks to foster an educational and professional environment rooted in equality, where women are granted their full rights to participate, innovate, and advance. The purpose of this policy is to protect women from all forms of gender-based discrimination or bias and to ensure that they enjoy the same opportunities, rights, and privileges as men. By doing so, the University aims to reinforce justice and strengthen the fabric of its academic community.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all components of the university community: students, faculty, staff, visitors, and collaborators. It encompasses academic, administrative, and research activities, in addition to student and social events held on or off campus whenever conducted in the University’s name.
4. Principles / Commitments

Full commitment to protecting women’s rights and ensuring they are not subject to discrimination, harassment, or exclusion.

Promoting equal participation of women in administrative bodies, research initiatives, and student-led activities.

Establishing a culture of mutual respect and human dignity among all individuals, regardless of gender.

Providing safe and confidential channels for reporting discriminatory practices, and ensuring all complaints are handled fairly.
5. Procedures / Implementation Mechanisms

Reporting: enabling any student, employee, or faculty member to file a formal complaint regarding discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment.

Investigation: conducting fair, confidential, and prompt investigations while safeguarding the privacy of all parties involved.

Disciplinary Action: applying appropriate disciplinary measures against individuals proven to have engaged in discriminatory behavior, in line with university regulations.

Support: offering counseling, psychological, and legal support services to affected individuals.
6. Responsibilities
-
The University Presidency holds the ultimate responsibility for supervising the implementation of this policy and ensuring its effectiveness.

The Office of Student Affairs and the Legal Unit are responsible for receiving complaints and conducting investigations.

Every member of the university community bears individual responsibility for complying with this policy and promoting a culture of equality and respect.
7. Monitoring and Evaluation

Preparing regular reports to assess the University’s adherence to the policy and to record reported cases.

Conducting periodic surveys to measure students’ and staff’s awareness of equality and non-discrimination.

Reviewing the effectiveness of reporting mechanisms to ensure they remain safe and accessible.
8. Periodic Review
This policy will be reviewed every three years, or as needed, in alignment with legal, social, national, and international developments concerning women’s rights.
