Seminar on Iraqi-Saudi Relations in the Field of Water
Regional Studies Center held a seminar entitled (Iraqi-Saudi relations in the field of water 1921-1957) BY Dr. Rayyan Thannoon Al-Abbasi, the researcher and academic at the Public Policies Department, in the presence of the Center’s researchers, on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.Al-Abbasi said that the issue of Iraqi-Saudi relations in the field of water is one of the topics that deserve research due to its modernity and vitality and because it has never been discussed academically as much as required despite its importance in revealing the backgrounds of these relations between the two countries based on Iraqi and British documents that have documented what was going on in terms of contacts and understandings about water between the Iraqi and Saudi parties. The researcher added that the research focuses on water as an incentive factor to Iraqi-Saudi relations since the beginning of the emergence of their political entity, and how the matter of water was the focus of the interest of decision-makers in the two countries through the inclusion of water in treaties and agreements concluded between the two neighboring countries, and in documenting joint cooperation projects between them in the field of development of water resources, especially for the Saudi side.
