Seminar on Iran in Closing Statements of the GCC Summits
Regional Studies Center held a seminar by Dr. “Abdul-Razzaq Khalaf Al-Taie”, a researcher at the Department of Political and Strategic Studies, for his research entitled “Iran in the Concluding Statements of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States Summits: 1981-2018 an Analytical Study”, and in the presence of the Center’s researchers on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.The researcher “Al-Taie” said that since the establishment of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States of the in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on May 25, 1981, which includes the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain, Iran has been present in the final statements of the summits of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, whose meetings are organized periodically in the presence of the rulers of these countries from 1981 to 2018, which is the period from the date of the establishment of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States until the date of the last summit.The researcher added that the research aims to find out how the final statements of the summits of Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council states have treated Iran, and if these data reflect the position of the Gulf states towards Iranian policy in the region and the relations between the two sides; so the research follows with narration and analysis the Gulf relations and policies towards Iran and the most prominent factors, issues and attitudes affecting them.
