Regional Studies Center Distributes Ramadan Food Baskets to Support Needy Families

As part of the University of Mosul’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement, the Regional Studies Center organized a humanitarian initiative on Thursday, March 20, 2025, during the holy month of Ramadan, to distribute food baskets to needy families in the local community.
The initiative aimed to support economically vulnerable families by providing essential food supplies and helping to alleviate part of their daily living burden during Ramadan. Through this activity, the Center sought to strengthen the values of solidarity, social cooperation, and mutual support while contributing to the well-being of families facing financial and social challenges.
The distribution of food baskets reflects the University of Mosul’s broader role in serving the surrounding community and responding to social needs beyond the boundaries of the university campus. Such initiatives demonstrate the importance of university-community engagement and the contribution of academic institutions to addressing pressing social and economic challenges.
This initiative also supports the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 1 – No Poverty, through assistance to economically vulnerable families, and SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, through the provision of essential food supplies to people in need.
Through similar community-based initiatives, the University of Mosul continues to promote social responsibility, humanitarian engagement, and cooperation with the local community, contributing to efforts aimed at improving social welfare and supporting sustainable development.
