Regional Studies Center Symposium on Violence Against Women
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, the President of the University of Mosul, and in cooperation with the College of Education for Women – the University of Mosul, the Center for Women Studies – University of Baghdad, and the United Nations Representative – Nineveh Office, Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul held on November 25, 2020, the virtual international scientific symposium titled ” Violence against women and protection mechanisms”.Assist. Prof. Dr. Luqman Omar Al-Nuaimi (Director of the Center) said in his speech: the subject of violence against women is important at the international and national levels as it relates to women’s rights and fundamental freedoms. Violence is not limited to abuse or beating, but rather to verbal and gender-based violence and the denial of her rights in all areas of life while she represents half of society. In the past, it was said (If you teach a man, you teach an individual, and if you teach a woman, then you teach a nation).The symposium included three sessions with (14) research papers presented by researchers on the subject of violence. As for the opening session, it was chaired by Prof. Dr. Qabas Hassan Awad -the Faculty of Law, Mosul University, while the first session was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Kifah Abbas Ramadan Al-Hamdani – Regional Studies Center, University of Mosul, the second session was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Azhar Yahya Qassem – the College of Education for Women, Mosul University, there was dialogue and interventions after the sessions, then reading the recommendations.The symposium’s approach can be viewed via the link: رابط الملف المرفق
