Regional Studies Center Holds a Symposium on Women’s Rights
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, President of the University of Mosul, the Public Policies Department at Regional Studies Center held the international electronic scientific symposium titled (Women’s Rights: Reality and Ambition) on Monday, March 8, 2021.The symposium aimed to shed light on women’s rights under the provisions of national legislation, the extent of application on the ground, and to work hard for the advancement and empowerment of women to achieve their all rights.The symposium discussed the political, social, and economic aspects of the topic through research papers that presented the reality of women’s rights in national legislation, violence against women, as well as their weak political representation.The participants in the symposium, researchers and professors from inside and outside Iraq, emphasized the importance of activating the role of women at all levels through the recommendations that confirmed that policies and legislation must be developed to eliminate human rights violations against women and implement policies, programs, and plans related to empowering women and building their capacities by strengthening Institutional structures for organizations and foundations defending women’s issues.
