Regional Studies Center held a seminar by Dr. “Mohammad Abdul Rahman Al-Obaidi” for his research entitled “The Development of Women’s Conditions in Iran 1979-2021” in the presence of the Center’s researchers on April 20, 2022.
Al-Obaidi said that the research aims to identify the most prominent changes in the conditions of Iranian women, the extent of development that occurred, and to study the aspects of the change. It is also an attempt to present a new addition to the field of studies related to the social history of Iran, including the reality of the situation of women after the Iranian revolution.
The “researcher” indicated that the research tackled the conditions of Iranian women by dividing the time into several sections. The first section included the conditions of women in Iran during the first decade of the Iranian revolution (1979-1989), While the second one focused on the situation of women under President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani (1989-1995). The third section discussed the situation of women during the era of President Muhammad Khatami (1997-2005), the fourth one was devoted to the reality of women under President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (2005-2013). The fifth and final section studied Iranian women during the rule of President Hassan Rouhani (2013-2021).
