Regional Studies Center held a seminar entitled: “The construction of Al-Faw Grand Port and the Dry Canal,” on December 11, 2022.The seminar included the events of the second scientific conference on Al-Faw Grand Port Project 2022, entitled: (Operating Al-Faw Grand Port and establishing the Dry Canal: future visions and investment opportunities), in response to the invitation extended to Regional Studies Center, Mosul University, with the deans and presidents of Iraqi universities and members of Parliamentary Transport Committee, international experts and the media.Assist. Prof. Dr. Nawfal Qassim Ali Al-Shahwan, Director of the Center, and Prof. Dr. Luqman Omar Mahmood Al-Nuaimi, Deputy Director of the Center, attended the conference for the period 6-8/12/2022.Dr. Nawfal Qassim Ali presented a clear vision of the details of this critical event, similar academic sessions and field visits to Al-Faw Grand Port and Khor Al-Zubayr (90 km south of Basra) and the General Company for Iraqi Ports,and to have a look at the workflow directly, the projects of huge test basins and the construction of the Dry Canal (60 km below the surface of the water), and complementary projects, which are being builtby the Korean company Daewoo.
