Regional Studies Center’s Staff Implements Afforestation Initiative
As part of the University of Mosul’s endeavors to serve the environment and encourage agriculture through collective initiatives that are not limited to the field of education only, but also serve community interaction and the environment, the administrative and teaching staff of the Regional Studies Center participated in a afforestation campaign with the Agriculture Division of the University of Mosul near one of the gates of the University of Mosul, on January 10, 2024.
The initiative aimed to achieve the “Thirteenth Goal, Climate Action” of the Sustainable Development Goals, and to keep pace with public efforts to adopt afforestation campaigns on a larger scale that have an effective role in increasing green spaces, and to encourage a community culture of planting plants within individual and collective voluntary initiatives that contribute to saving the environment.
The staff of the Regional Studies Center, led by the Center’s Director, Dr. Nawfal Qasim Al-Shahwan, implemented planting plants, in addition to delivering a short speech to raise community awareness of the importance of preserving green vegetation and continuing planting campaigns to achieve their promising results.
