Regional Studies Center Holds a Seminar on Donald Trump and the Rise of the American Extreme Right
Regional Studies Center held a seminar for the research entitled “Donald Trump and the Rise of the American Extreme Right,” presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Fares Turki Mahmood, on April 14, 2024.
The seminar aimed to shed light on the American extreme right in all its religious, ethnic, and ideological forms, the reasons for its rise and increasing presence in the United States of America, especially in the past few years, and how this trend has been affected by a number of factors that had the most prominent role in increasing its influence.
The seminar included three topics: The first one discussed the impact of the American environment in all its aspects on the birth and growth of the right-wing movement in general, and it also dealt with the most prominent parties and movements that represented that movement and expressed its tendencies. The second topic touched on the characteristics, behaviors, and ideas of Donald Trump and how he became one of the most influential figures among supporters of right-wing trends. In the third and final one, the clear rise of the right-wing movement was discussed and analyzed at the level of ideas, trends, and movements, and the connection of that rise to Trump’s arrival to power and the policy that he sought to implement at the internal and external levels.
