Regional Studies Center Holds a Seminar on the Issues Affecting the European Security System
Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul held a seminar on the research entitled “Problems Affecting the European Security System” presented by Assist. Prof. Walid Mahmoud Ahmad on 3 June 2024.
The seminar aimed to present the features of the Russian American penetration in European security affairs during the Cold War and on the eve of its end after Russia’s retreat and the uniqueness of the United States as a global leader.
The seminar consisted of a review of two themes: the first dealt with the external issues of the future of security in Europe and the Russian and American influence in this field, concerning the role of NATO after the end of the Cold War in pursuing European security issues. The second discusses the internal issues of the future of security in Europe concerning the political changes within the European continent and their repercussions on the pattern of European security.
