Regional Studies Center Holds a Scientific Symposium on Public Culture and its Role in Raising Awareness

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Wahid Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, and the supervision of the Director of the Regional Studies Center, Prof. Mithaq Khairallah Jaloud, and in conjunction with Science Day, the Center held on Monday, December 30, 2024, the 59th scientific symposium under the title “Public Culture and its Role in Raising Awareness”.

The first session included a lecture by Prof. Dr. Mithaq Khairallah Jalloud entitled “Culture: Disentangling Concepts”, in which he reviewed the issues and overlapping concepts associated with culture.

In the second lecture, Prof. Dr. Amer Abdullah Al-Jumaili presented “Culture in the Archaeological and Heritage Perspective”, highlighting the role of cultural heritage in strengthening national identity.

The third lecture was presented by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saleh Aboush under the title “The Relationship between Culture and Ethics”, stressing the importance of moral values as an essential part of culture.

The symposium came to a close with a lecture by Dr. Hajran Abdullah Saleh titled “Cultural Transformations in the Post-Modern Era”, which discussed the transformations that have occurred in culture in light of global changes.

The symposium witnessed interaction from the audience, and concluded with discussions that contributed to deepening the understanding of the symposium’s topic and enhancing cultural awareness.
