A New Publication by Regional Studies Center Explores Aspects of Contemporary Turkish Foreign Policy

Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul has announced the release of a new scholarly work titled “Studies in the History of Contemporary Turkey,” authored by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdulrahman Younis Al-Obaidi and Assistant Lecturer Fawzi Mohammed Saleh Al-Abadi. The book is published by Mashki House for Printing, Publishing and Distribution, featuring high-quality production standards, spanning 142 medium-sized pages, first edition, 2026.
The publication aims to shed light on Turkey’s pivotal role on both the regional and international stages, offering an in-depth analysis of its strategies toward ongoing crises and major global powers. It stands as a significant and reliable reference for researchers in contemporary political affairs.
The book is structured into five chapters. The first examines Turkey’s relations with major powers, particularly Russia and Ukraine. The second and third chapters focus on the economic and political dimensions shaping Turkish–Iranian relations. The fourth chapter addresses Turkey’s policy toward the Caucasus region, while the fifth and final chapter explores the trajectory of Turkish–Armenian normalization.
In a related context, this publication reflects the Center’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) by enriching academic libraries with rigorous intellectual contributions, and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting a culture of dialogue, enhancing understanding of international conflicts, and supporting diplomatic mediation to achieve regional stability.
