Regional Studies Center Holds a Lecture on Human Trafficking Phenomenon
On Thursday, December 26, 2024, Regional Studies Center organized a scientific lecture entitled “The phenomenon of human trafficking and enhancing community awareness of its threats”, presented by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdulrahman Al-Obaidi. The lecture aimed to focus on the dangers of human trafficking as one of the most prominent humanitarian crimes, and to raise awareness of addressing it through education and community cooperation.
The lecture addressed several main themes, including the definition of human trafficking and its common forms, with a focus on the social and economic dimensions that contribute to its continuation. Dr. Al-Obaidi also reviewed international and regional efforts to combat it, and the pivotal role of local legislation in confronting this crime. He also stressed the need to raise awareness of the dangers of human trafficking through awareness campaigns and workshops targeting the most vulnerable groups.
The lecture concluded with an interactive discussion session that emphasized ways to enhance national and regional efforts to confront this phenomenon more effectively.
