Regional Studies Center Organizes a Scientific Lecture on the Importance of Afforestation in Preserving Environment

Regional Studies Center organized a scientific lecture entitled “The Importance of Afforestation in Preserving the Environment” presented by Prof. Dr. Mithaq Khairallah Jalloud, Director of the Center, on March 12, 2025. The lecture aimed to highlight the vital role of afforestation in improving air quality, combating desertification, and supporting biodiversity, in addition to enhancing awareness of the importance of trees in the face of climate change.
The lecture addressed several key themes, including: First, the concept of afforestation and the importance of trees in absorbing carbon and minimizing the effects of climate change. Second, the role of trees in improving air quality and providing oxygen. Third, how afforestation contributes to the sustainability of water and soil and protects them from erosion. Fourth, the effects of afforestation on wildlife and biodiversity, and its impact on environmental sustainability. Successful afforestation projects that have been implemented in different regions and their positive impact on preserving the environment were also discussed.
