Regional Studies Center Participates in the University of Mosul’s Environmental Symposium on Climate Adaptation in Nineveh

As part of its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 13 on Climate Action, the Regional Studies Center took part in the symposium titled “Climate Adaptation Initiatives in Nineveh”, held on Sunday, July 27, 2025. The event was jointly organized by the University of Mosul, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the German Development Bank (KfW), with the participation of representatives from the UNDP, and a number of academic and governmental figures.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, highlighted the importance of strategic projects for securing water resources, particularly the vital Badosh Dam project. He also emphasized the need for integrated efforts among academic, governmental, and international institutions to address the challenges of climate change.
The Center’s participation reflects its academic commitment to supporting climate policies and reinforcing the university’s role as a key partner in developing realistic and sustainable solutions to environmental issues in Iraq.
