As part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s efforts to advance the academic landscape, Dr. Tareq Mohammad Tayeb Dhaher, Director of the Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul, headed a specialized ministerial committee that visited the College of Law and Politics / Department of Political Science at the University of Kirkuk on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

The visit aimed to assess the academic and scientific environment and to enhance the quality of education in line with development and modernization requirements to raise academic standards. The committee reviewed the college’s academic and administrative performance, while the field tour included inspections of classrooms, laboratories, the library, service facilities, and educational infrastructure.

During the meetings, the committee discussed with the academic and administrative staff the importance of providing a modern educational environment that contributes to preparing a generation capable of serving society in accordance with the standards of rigorous higher education. It is worth noting that such visits are part of an annual ministerial tradition designed to monitor and develop political science faculties and departments in Iraqi universities, ensuring alignment with international academic standards.

The objectives of the visit also align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), through efforts to strengthen higher education institutions and graduate qualified professionals who contribute to stability and state-building.
