Regional Studies Center

Regional Studies Center participated in the first conference of Iraqi journal editorial boards, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under the slogan “Elevating Iraqi Journals to Excellence”. The event was held under the patronage and presence of His Excellency, Minister Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the University of Technology Theater. The Center was represented at the conference by Dr. Mohammad Abdulrahman Al-Obaidi.

The conference targeted a wide range of academic leadership, including university presidents, assistants for scientific affairs, and the heads, directors, and members of editorial boards of all Iraqi scientific journals, alongside participation from prominent international research institutions. The event served as a strategic milestone to enhance the position of Iraqi journals in the global academic landscape and to open new horizons for development and excellence.

The conference focused on discussing mechanisms to improve the quality of scientific publishing and adopting robust research standards, contributing to the achievement of relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 4 – Quality Education through improving scientific content, Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth by promoting productive applied research, Goal 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions through enhancing transparency in peer review and publication, and Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals via collaboration with global research institutions.

At the conclusion of the conference, Regional Studies Center reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the advancement of Iraqi journals, aiming to make them leading knowledge platforms capable of competing both nationally and internationally.
