Regional Studies Center Discusses Ways to Develop Scientific Research and Serving Community

The Regional Studies Center Director, Assist. Prof. Dr. Tareq Mohammad Tayeb Dhahir, held an extensive meeting with the Center’s faculty on Monday, September 29, 2025, to review scientific activities and publication plans in highly accredited international outlets. The discussions focused on aligning with the requirements of rigorous research and strengthening the Center’s presence in the academic sphere. The meeting emphasized the importance of directing research efforts toward serving the Sustainable Development Goals , particularly in the areas of Quality Education (4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (8), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (9), Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (16), and Partnerships for the Goals (17).
The participants also explored mechanisms to activate scientific cooperation with Iraqi, regional, and international universities, in addition to government institutions, to facilitate knowledge exchange and implement research projects that serve society and respond to current challenges. Dr. Dhahir stressed that these efforts are part of the Center’s mission to consolidate its position as a leading institution in applied knowledge production that contributes to shaping public policy and addressing development needs.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of an ambitious action plan to integrate scientific research with societal priorities, establish sustainable partnerships that strengthen the Center’s role locally and internationally, and support Iraq’s path toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the upcoming academic year.
