The Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul organized a seminar titled “Water Management and Conservation and their Role in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”, presented by Assist. Lecturer Fawzi Mohammad Saleh on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

The session addressed the importance of water as a vital resource and the need to rationalize its use across various sectors, linking this to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as poverty eradication, good health, quality education, gender equality, decent work, and sustainable industry, all the way to environmental protection and the preservation of life on land and below water.

The discussion featured fruitful exchanges on methods of water conservation, reuse technologies, and sound planning for water projects, with examples of successful local and international experiences.

The seminar concluded by emphasizing that water management is a collective responsibility that requires environmental awareness and active participation from all members of society to ensure a sustainable future for coming generations.
