Regional Studies Center Holds a Seminar on Role of the United Nations in Peacebuilding

The Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul organized a seminar on October 19, 2025, entitled “The Role of the United Nations in Peacebuilding.” The lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Imad Khalil Ibrahim, with the participation of a number of researchers, academics, and specialists in international affairs.
The seminar aimed to highlight the efforts of the United Nations in achieving sustainable peace and strengthening international security, while discussing the mechanisms adopted by the organization to resolve conflicts, rebuild war-affected areas, and support development in post-crisis countries. It also emphasized the importance of international partnerships and regional cooperation in fostering a culture of dialogue and rejecting violence, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), as well as Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
