Regional Studies Center Holds Seminar to Promote Participation in the 2025 Parliamentary Elections

The Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul / Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Human Rights Division at the university presidency, organized on Sunday, November 9, 2025, a seminar titled “The Importance of Participation and Voting in the 2025 Parliamentary Elections and Its Role in Promoting the Concept of Democracy and Political Reform.”
The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Khalaf Mohammed, with the attendance of several faculty members and individuals interested in political and social affairs.
The event aimed to enhance electoral awareness and encourage citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote, as it represents one of the main pillars of building democratic systems and achieving political reform. The lecture discussed the importance of broad participation in elections as a means of positive change and strengthening trust between citizens and governmental institutions. It also highlighted the role of elections in ensuring fair representation of various segments of society.
The seminar included extensive discussions emphasizing that elections are a civilizational manifestation reflecting society’s awareness of its political responsibilities. They also contribute to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions; Goal 10 on reducing inequalities; and Goal 4 on quality education through promoting awareness and political culture.
