Remote Sensing Center participates in a doctoral dissertation defense at the University of Duhok

Professor Rayan Ghazi Thanoun, a lecturer at the Remote Sensing Center, participated on Thursday, August 28, 2025, as a member of the committee defending the doctoral dissertation at the University of Duhok/College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences/Department of Forestry. The dissertation was presented by Nova Bahzad Mohammed, entitled:
“Spatiotemporal analysis for forest cover dynamics in Dohuk Governorate, the Kurdistan region of Iraq, utilizing remote sensing and geoinformatics.”
The dissertation addressed the temporal and spatial analysis of forest cover dynamics in Dohuk Governorate using remote sensing techniques and geographic information systems. The committee commended the scientific effort and the dissertation’s findings, which contribute to enhancing applied studies in the field of natural resources and forest management. This participation aims to enhance academic cooperation and exchange of expertise between Iraqi universities
and to support research that contributes to achieving sustainable development and environmental protection.
