Scientific Field Visit by the Remote Sensing Center to Ain Kabrīt Site in Mosul – University of Mosul
The Remote Sensing Center at the University of Mosul organized a scientific field visit to the Ain Kabrīt site on Monday, October 6, 2025, on the occasion of the International Geodiversity Day, with the participation of several faculty members and staff from the center.
The visit aimed to explore the geological and environmental characteristics of the site and to study the sulfuric phenomena of its waters. During the visit, remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies were employed to document the site and analyze the surrounding environmental variables, as part of the center’s efforts to integrate modern technology in support of field-based scientific research.
This activity falls within the center’s continuous efforts to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 13 and 15) and to enhance geological and environmental awareness within the community.
