Remote Sensing Center

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the direct supervision of the Director of the Remote Sensing Center, Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Ramzi Quba, the Remote Sensing Center participated in the Bridge of Mercy initiative. This initiative was launched by the University President as a pioneering community-based program aimed at supporting social stability and strengthening the values of cooperation and solidarity among members of society, thereby contributing positively to the consolidation of peacebuilding principles and sustainable development in the region.

Batnaya Village, within the district of Tel Kaif, was selected as the site for this initiative, which took place on Saturday, 20 December 2025.

The participation of the Remote Sensing Center included presenting the village with a thematic map and a satellite image of the area, in addition to distributing informative and awareness-raising posters addressing key concepts of sustainable development and the importance of afforestation. Furthermore, the Center proposed a scientific initiative to establish forest belts surrounding the village, designed to act as windbreaks against dust storms and to enhance the protection of the local environment.
