Remote Sensing Center Publishes Research Papers in Journals Indexed in Scopus

As part of the ongoing scientific and research activities of the Remote Sensing Center at the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Fawzia Mahmoud Al-Ramo, Head of the Digital Processing Department at the Center, has published two research papers in the fields of artificial intelligence and video processing and retrieval technologies.

The first paper, entitled “A New Reptile Search Algorithm for an Intelligent Video Retrieval System,” was co-authored with researcher Ansam Nizar Younis and published in the Baghdad Science Journal, a scientific journal indexed in Scopus and ranked in the first quartile (Q1). The study focused on developing an intelligent algorithm to improve the indexing and retrieval of video clips using Transformer technologies, neural networks, and the Reptile Search Algorithm.

The second paper, entitled “A Comparative Review of Video-Based Transformer Models for Modern Applications,” was published in the Journal of University of Anbar for Pure Science, Volume 20, Issue 2, 2026. The study presented a comparative review of the major Transformer models used in video processing and their modern applications. The journal is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal indexed in Scopus and ranked in the fourth quartile (Q4).

These publications reflect the Remote Sensing Center’s ongoing efforts to support scientific research and strengthen the University of Mosul’s presence in international academic databases, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence and deep learning.

These studies are also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through supporting scientific research and advancing knowledge in modern technologies; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through the application of artificial intelligence, deep learning, and intelligent search algorithms in the development of video processing and retrieval systems; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through promoting research collaboration and the exchange of scientific expertise in technology and innovation.
