Remote Sensing Center

Vision: The Center is a research center with a precise scientific specialization in the use and interpretation of space imagery. It is primarily tasked with developing educational and research capabilities, analyzing and utilizing space imagery to benefit from it in the areas of natural resource exploration and exploitation, and environmental studies. Mission: Providing scientific and technical consultations in the field of remote sensing technology and geographic information systems (GIS), as well as in the methods and means of applying remote sensing technology and its application in areas that serve society. Objectives: * Educating, training, and preparing specialists and qualifying them in the field of computers and related software in the field of remote sensing and geographic information systems through the use of advanced software.
* Enabling researchers to gain a comprehensive background in the field of databases and in the methods and means of applying remote sensing technology and geographic information systems, and to acquire skills in using modern technologies and employing them in their fields of specialization.
* Enabling researchers to conduct complex analysis of spatial and descriptive data and to model the situation under study.
* Providing scientific and technical assistance and consultations to all universities, bodies, and institutions, contributing to addressing and resolving various relevant scientific issues, and establishing paths for improving performance and achievement to achieve significant benefits for society.
* Preparing innovative pioneers capable of developing research plans in the field of remote sensing and geographic information systems applications that are relevant to society, reflect its immediate needs, and offer solutions to its current problems and future plans.
* Teaching and empowering students at the University of Mosul and in various scientific departments in the field of remote sensing and geographic information systems applications, and acquiring skills in the use of modern technologies and their application in fields of specialization.
* Through the accumulated scientific and practical experience and academic supervision of faculty members at the Center for Remote Sensing, Iraqi universities will be provided with a series of books, publications, and research in this precise specialization.
