Remote Sensing Center at the Technical College of Engineering – Kirkuk

Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Ramzi Qabaa, Acting Director of the Remote Sensing Center, was selected to serve as a member of the committee to discuss his master’s thesis entitled “An Analytical Study of Selecting Ideal Sites for the Construction of Earth Dams Using GIS Techniques and Multi-Criteria According to the Traditional AHP and Fuzzy AHP Approaches – Al-Hawija District, Kirkuk Governorate, as a Case Study” at the Technical College of Engineering – Kirkuk on July 30, 2025.
The thesis aimed to address the current water scarcity resulting from climate change facing the region. It included a comprehensive multi-criteria assessment of eleven key parameters, including topographic, hydrological, infrastructure, and socioeconomic factors. Paired comparisons of experts were analyzed using both traditional AHP and fuzzy AHP methodologies. Mathematical comparisons were made between the two approaches to select ideal locations for constructing earthen dams.
