Under the directives of the University of Mosul Presidency, the College of Tourism Sciences hosted an awareness lecture on public safety and fire prevention, organized by the Civil Defense Unit at the University Presidency. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Sufian Idris Al-Barzanji, Head of the Unit, on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Prof. Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the heads of scientific departments, and a number of faculty members and staff.

The lecture aimed to promote awareness of public safety procedures and proper response to emergency situations. It addressed the causes of fires, methods of prevention, and the correct use of fire extinguishers, contributing to the enhancement of a safe and sustainable university environment.

At the conclusion of the lecture, the Dean presented Mr. Sufian Idris Al-Barzanji with a letter of appreciation in recognition of his efforts in spreading a culture of public safety within the university campus.

This lecture is part of the college’s efforts to enhance community awareness and reinforce public safety concepts, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3: “Good Health and Well-being” and Goal 11: “Sustainable Cities and Communities.”
