Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences Delivers an Educational Lecture on the Role of Tourism in Society
The Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Naif Mahmoud, delivered an insightful lecture on tourism’s importance and active role in society. This lecture was part of the seminar titled “Tourism: Culture and Civilization.. and Its Impact on Society,” held on the evening of Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Yousif Dhanoon Center for Historical and Artistic Studies in Mosul. The event also featured Dr. Ikhlas Dawood Al-Saleem, Director of Media and Public Relations for Nineveh Tourism.
The lecture addressed various critical aspects that contribute to supporting and growing the tourism sector in Mosul. Dr. Mahmoud emphasized the need to promote activities and initiatives to advance tourism. He highlighted the significant role that tourism can play in strengthening cultural and civilizational exchanges between peoples, alongside its contribution to boosting the local economy.
The lecture saw distinguished attendance from Mosul’s elite and several tourism specialists. Discussions centred around ways to develop the tourism sector in Nineveh, particularly enhancing tourism infrastructure and improving services offered to visitors, reflecting Mosul’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
In conclusion, the lecture stressed the importance of collaboration between academic institutions, government bodies, and private entities to solidify tourism in the region and market Mosul as a premier tourist destination on both local and international levels.
