Tourism Studies Department Holds a Scientific Workshop

As part of the scientific activities of the College of Tourism Sciences, and under the direction of Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Naif Mahmoud, Dean of the College, the Department of Tourism Studies, in cooperation with the University of Mosul / Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, organized a scientific workshop titled “The Role of Tourism Media in Preserving Cultural Heritage” on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Haitham Ahmed Hussein, the department’s rapporteur, in the presence of the Dean of the College, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Head of the Department of Tourism Studies, and a number of faculty members and staff.
The session included interactive discussions and questions, which enriched the content and deepened the understanding of the vital role of media in cultural heritage preservation.

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of tourism media in raising public awareness about preserving cultural heritage, as well as to exchange expertise among professionals to strengthen the media’s contribution to this essential field.

At the conclusion, the Dean commended the efforts of the academic departments for their active role in organizing workshops, seminars, and awareness lectures, affirming that such initiatives reflect the college’s commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.

This workshop aligns with SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), which emphasizes the protection and safeguarding of cultural and natural heritage, and SDG 4 (Quality Education), by promoting sustainable learning and awareness in the fields of culture, tourism, and media.
