The College of Tourism Sciences Participates in the “My School” Initiative

In implementing the directives of the Honourable Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, the College of Tourism Sciences took part in the “My School” Initiative. The activity was organised by the Voluntary Work Unit within the Student Activities Division of the college, in cooperation with the Voluntary Work Division at the General Directorate of Education in Nineveh.
This student-led volunteer initiative aims to support schoolchildren and encourage academic excellence by providing school supplies and stationery. By doing so, it contributes to the creation of a motivating educational environment that inspires students to begin their school year with hope and diligence.
The event, held at Utbah Ibn Ghazwan Primary School on the left bank of Mosul on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, witnessed the participation of Prof. Dr Manal Raafat Khalid, Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, along with the Assistant Deans for Administrative and Scientific Affairs, and the Heads of the Student Activities Division and the Voluntary Work Unit. They joined the college students in distributing school bags and stationery to the pupils in an atmosphere filled with joy and enthusiasm.
This participation reflects the College of Tourism Sciences’ and the University of Mosul’s commitment to promoting the values of volunteerism and social responsibility among students and encouraging them to participate in humanitarian initiatives that strengthen their connection with the community.
This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, by supporting schoolchildren and helping provide a motivating learning environment that fosters academic success. It also supports Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities through assisting students from underserved groups with essential school supplies. Additionally, it reflects Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as it strengthens collaboration between the University of Mosul and the Nineveh Directorate of Education in implementing community-oriented initiatives that promote volunteerism and social responsibility.
