College of Tourism Sciences Holds a Panel Discussion in Collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Unit

Under the patronage of the esteemed President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Asst. Prof. Dr Mohammed Naef Mahmoud, the College of Tourism Sciences, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency, organised a panel discussion titled “The Role of Financial and Academic Resources in Shaping Women’s Academic Pathways.” Asst presented the session. Lecturer Huda Abdulaziz on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

The discussion addressed the impact of financial and academic resources on women’s educational trajectories. The presenter explained that high educational costs may pose obstacles for women wishing to pursue their studies, whereas scholarships and financial support can significantly expand their opportunities. She also emphasised the importance of high-quality early education in developing women’s academic skills and competencies. Furthermore, she highlighted the need for a supportive educational environment and equal opportunities as essential foundations for empowering women academically and enhancing their participation in various scientific fields.

The session was attended by the Dean of the College, along with Prof. Dr. Saddam Mohammed Hameed from the College of Education for Humanities, in addition to several staff members, and witnessed positive engagement and fruitful discussions.

This activity aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, by highlighting the importance of accessible and equitable educational opportunities; Goal 5: Gender Equality, through supporting the academic empowerment of women; Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, by emphasizing the role of financial support in creating equal opportunities; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrated through collaboration between the college and the Women’s Affairs Unit in organizing activities that advance women’s issues and education.
