College of Tourism Sciences Holds a Workshop on Tourism and Industrial Development

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, the College of Tourism Sciences organized a workshop on Thursday, December 11, 2025, entitled “Mechanisms for Developing Tourism and Industry in Mosul: Prospects and Challenges.”
The workshop was presented by Asst. Lecturer Ghaidaa Mohammed Nafi, who discussed the major challenges facing the development of the tourism and industrial sectors in the city of Mosul, as well as the promising opportunities for enhancing economic growth. She also proposed practical strategies that could support sustainable development and encourage local investment.
The workshop was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Zaid Mohammed Talal, along with college staff and students. The event featured a fruitful discussion on ways to advance the tourism and industrial sectors, creating a balanced development environment that aligns with the city’s social and economic needs.
This workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), by promoting awareness of developmental strategies and highlighting the importance of integrating tourism and industry to achieve balanced and sustainable growth.
