College of Tourism Sciences Participates in the “Bridge of Mercy” Project

Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Professor Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, the College of Tourism Sciences at the University of Mosul participated in the “Bridge of Mercy” project, launched by the University of Mosul as part of its humanitarian and voluntary campaign aimed at supporting the community and promoting the values of solidarity and volunteer work.

The participation took place in the presence of the Dean of the College; the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Zaid Mohammed Talal; Dr. Ahmed Hussein, Head of the Student Activities Division; and Mr. Mohammed Younis, Head of the Volunteer Work Unit.

The event was attended by distinguished students from the College of Tourism Sciences, who formed the Tourism Volunteer Team. Their role included delivering awareness lectures to students of Batnaya Primary School, addressing concepts of tourism and the importance of tourist sites and attractions, as well as distributing healthy food meals to pupils. Additionally, they presented purposeful short stories designed by the college staff. These stories included awareness-raising ideas that promote a culture of preserving and caring for the cleanliness of tourist sites, thereby reinforcing concepts of social responsibility among pupils.

The Dean of the College commended the efforts of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, for his leadership and continuous follow-up of this voluntary campaign, as well as his ongoing support for humanitarian initiatives that reflect the university’s societal role.

This participation comes in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly eradicating poverty, ending hunger, promoting good health and well-being, ensuring quality education, supporting decent work and economic growth, reducing inequalities, building sustainable cities and communities, promoting peace, justice and strong institutions, and strengthening partnerships to achieve these goals.
