Seminar on “Cybersecurity” Held at the Center for Dams and Water Resources Research

As part of its ongoing awareness activities aimed at enhancing both the educational and research aspects in the field of modern technologies that support the protection of the digital environment for individuals and institutions, the Center for Dams and Water Resources Research organized an informative seminar titled:
“Cybersecurity.”
The seminar was presented by Mr. Mustafa Mushtaq Mohammed Sadeq, Assistant Lecturer at the Center, and focused on fundamental concepts in the field of cybersecurity. It highlighted common threats in the modern digital environment, such as phishing attacks, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, and malware. The presentation also covered the latest protection technologies currently adopted by institutions and digital platforms.
During the seminar, methodologies for securing systems and networks were discussed, with an emphasis on the role of the end user in prevention through best security practices. These include using two-factor authentication, regularly updating systems, and handling emails and attachments with caution.
The session was attended by researchers, faculty members, and staff from the Center. It sparked a productive discussion on various aspects of cybersecurity and data protection—especially in light of the ongoing shift toward digital transformation, automation, and data management using modern computing technologies.
