Scientific Workshop on Bivariate Drought Frequency Analysis

Our Center organized a scientific workshop entitled:
“Two-Variate Drought Frequency Analysis Based on Modified Multivariate Drought Index,”
presented by Dr. Ihsan Faseeh Hassan, lecturer at the Center.

The workshop addressed the severity of drought as one of the most critical natural hazards directly affecting vital sectors. The presenter reviewed mechanisms for developing a multivariate standardized drought index by integrating climatic and hydrological variables using multivariate modeling.

The proposed methodology aimed to improve the accuracy of assessing drought characteristics and frequency, enhancing the potential for strategic water resources management and mitigating the negative impacts of drought in the future.

The workshop was attended by several researchers and engineers from the Center, highlighting the importance of such research studies in supporting water-related projects and ensuring the optimal use and sustainability of water resources.
