Dams and Water Resources Research Center Concludes a Training Program on Water Resources Management to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals

The Dams and Water Resources Research Center at the University concluded its five-day training program entitled:
“Water Resources Management to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals,”
with the participation of a group of staff members from various government departments in Nineveh Governorate.
The program included a series of theoretical and practical lectures delivered by several faculty members of the Center, covering scientific and engineering topics aimed at enhancing participants’ capabilities in modern water resources management methods. The program content addressed the following topics:
- Concepts and frameworks for integrated water resources management (IWRM).
- Integrated management of groundwater and surface water under climate change conditions.
- Operation management of dams to achieve optimal water utilization.
- Global challenges in water management, balancing resource scarcity with increasing demand pressures.
- The role of artificial intelligence in water resources management.
The program also focused on enabling participants to select appropriate strategies for integrated water resources management, address the effects of climate change—especially drought—and develop skills to overcome challenges related to water scarcity, including the adoption of modern technologies for effective management.
This program is part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to support state institutions and enhance the technical capacities of their staff, aligning with the University’s mission to serve the community and promote sustainable development in the governorate.
